Growing, Packing & Processing

Growing

product-1

The soil and climate of Hyderabad and its surrounding areas are ideal for growing figs. Figs thrive in the Hyderabad’s hot, dry summer sun.

New plantings of fig trees reach bearing age at 1-2 years. Fig trees have tremendous longevity. For Fig Growers, fig production is a year-round business. We are continually preparing the soil, monitoring irrigation and pruning the trees for maximum yields from the orchards.

Unlike other tree fruits or nuts, fig trees have no blossoms on their branches; the flowers are inverted and actually develop inside the fruit. These many tiny flowers produce the crunchy little seeds which give figs their unique texture.

The Brown Turkey fig plant is pruned back in August/ September/ October months. The figs start ripening/harvesting from January and will continue till June. Brown Turkey figs are mostly Exported to various Export Markets mainly UK, Europe, Middle East Asia, Far East Asia, Canada etc. The Export window for Indian fig is open in all these markets between January to June.

Upon drying the moisture content is brought down to 14-31 percent which make our figs plump, moist and delicious.
